"My tooth is cracked and my dentist says it needs a crown."
"I just had a root canal and need to protect the tooth."
"My old crown fell off and I need it replaced."
"I'm not sure if I need a crown or a filling."
If any of that sounds familiar, you're in the right place. We'll look at your tooth, walk you through your options honestly, and help you decide what actually makes sense for you.
Common reasons include a cracked or fractured tooth, a cavity too large for a filling, a tooth that's had a root canal, or a tooth that's worn down or misshapen.
You have options: porcelain for a natural look on front teeth, zirconia for strength with a natural appearance, porcelain-fused-to-metal for a blend of both, and gold or metal alloys for maximum durability on back molars. We'll help you pick the right one for your tooth and your budget.
If you're replacing a missing tooth entirely, a crown can also be attached to a dental implant, giving you a fixed, permanent replacement that looks and functions like a natural tooth.
Whatever type you choose, your crown is custom-made to fit your bite and match your smile — not a generic, one-size-fits-all solution.

Here’s what a well-placed crown does for you:

A crown seals and reinforces a weakened tooth, so a crack or cavity doesn't get worse or lead to losing the tooth.

You can chew and bite down normally again, without favoring one side of your mouth or avoiding certain foods.

Your crown is custom-shaded and shaped to match your surrounding teeth, so it blends right in.

With good care, most crowns last 10 to 15 years or longer — a durable, cost-effective fix.

A crown protects a treated tooth from fracturing, which is common without one after a root canal.

A visibly damaged or discolored tooth can make you self-conscious. A crown restores both function and how your smile looks.

WHAT OUR PATIENTS SAY
850+ five-star ratings on Google. Here’s what a few patients had to say about their care:
We love Bright Smiles!! We’ve been coming to Dr. Cheung and Associates for more than a decade. Everyone is not only knowledgeable and professional but kind, easy going and awesome to chat with. We feel like family during our visits. My young children love it too. Thanks so much for the great service and hospitality. XOXO
The staff at Bright Smile is great to my whole family! Today, both my kids and I were scheduled. There was a gap between their cleanings and mine, but one of the hygienists had some extra time and squeezed me in while the kids were taken care of so I didn’t have to come back later. Such an unexpected accommodation for a busy mom!
My son (5) had to have two teeth extracted and Dr. Kim and staff were amazing! Both of our children have an easy time at the dentist and we would recommend them to anyone. Our family of four all go here.
5 stars is by far, not enough for Doctor Kim and his dental assistant. My wife has a major procedure and she had Parkinson’s. Doctor Kim went far above and beyond took such great care of my wife. I can begin to express my high gratitude to this Doctor and all the staff at Bright Smile. An outstanding group of people who do a very outstanding job. My family have gone to Bright Smile for 10 plus years. From the bottom of my heart, thank you for the care we received. Do yourself or you’re family a real wise move. See Doctor Kim.

A dental crown is a custom-made cap that fits over a damaged, weakened, or misshapen tooth, restoring its size, shape, strength, and appearance. It covers the entire visible portion of your tooth above the gumline, so it looks and functions like a natural tooth again.
You have a few material options: porcelain (natural-looking, ideal for front teeth), zirconia (extremely strong and still natural-looking), porcelain-fused-to-metal (a blend of strength and aesthetics), and gold or metal alloys (very durable, often used on back molars). We’ll help you choose the right one based on which tooth needs the crown and how it functions.
Bright Smile Dental in Powell offers custom crowns start to finish, including implant-supported crowns and same-day repairs when needed, with Dr. Jerry Cheung and our team of four dentists.
Your cost depends on the material you choose and the complexity of your case. We verify your insurance benefits before treatment and give you a clear, itemized estimate at your consultation, with financing available through CareCredit and Cherry.
All four of our dentists — Dr. Jerry Cheung, Dr. Paul Kim, Dr. Saniya Kamran, and Dr. Jerome Urell — place and restore crowns regularly, from a single tooth to more complex, full-mouth cases.
Porcelain crown pricing depends on your specific case and insurance coverage. We break it down in detail on our blog.
With good oral hygiene and regular checkups, most crowns last 10 to 15 years, and many last much longer. Read our full guide on crown lifespan.
Crowns are made from porcelain, zirconia, porcelain-fused-to-metal, or gold and metal alloys, each offering a different balance of strength, durability, and natural appearance.
A well-made crown is shaped and shaded to blend in with your surrounding teeth. Most people won’t be able to tell it’s there.
